Membership Categories

The membership of the institution consists of three categories namely: honorary membership, individual membership and corporate membership.
These are further categorized into:

1. Honorary Membership

i. Patrons
Patrons are persons of distinction whose membership is in the opinion of the council, confer honour upon the institution. The patrons are nominated by the committee and approved by the council.

ii. Honorary Members
Honorary members are persons of eminence in the arts and sciences or of position or of experience whose membership are in the opinion of the council, further the aims of the institution. Such members do not engage in practice as valuers, land managers, estate managers or estate agents. Honorary membership is only by invitation of the council on the recommendation of the committee.

2. Individual Membership

i. Full Members

a. Fellow Members
Fellow members are persons who have been associated members of the institution for more than ten years or who hold such other qualification (s) which in the opinion of the council is of requisite standard and have high personal and professional integrity. Fellow members have satisfactory experience in any of the following aspects of land economy surveying, valuation, estate/property management, land management or estate agency of at least ten years duration. They must have gained suitable experience of, and have risen to a suitable elevated status, in the profession in Tanzania and have fulfilled such further conditions as the council may prescribe.

b. Associate Members
Associate members are the persons who have passed the examination as approved by the council in addition of post qualification experience of a period and of a type approved by the council, and who have fulfilled conditions prescribed by the By-Laws.

ii. Affiliated members

a. Graduate Members
Graduate members are the persons who have graduated from the recognized institutions of higher learning approved by the council and who have fulfilled conditions prescribed by the By-Laws.

b. Technician Members

Technician Members are the persons holding technician certificates from recognized colleges and approved by the council and who have fulfilled conditions prescribed by the By-Laws.

c. Student Members

Student members are the persons currently pursuing full time studies at the recognized colleges and institutions of higher learning and who have fulfilled conditions prescribed by the By-Laws.

3. Corporate Membership

Corporate members are limited to incorporate practicing land economy surveying and or estate profession with the licence of the National Council of Professional Surveyors. At all times a corporate member must have at least one of its directors a registered Land Economy Surveyor registered by the National Council of Professional Surveyors of Tanzania.
